Visiting Blanca

Johan & Blanca

Blanca came to the hotel with her brother-in-law on a motorcycle. She was overjoyed with tears to see Johan. She said she thought she'd never see him again.

Colombian Hot Chocolate with Cheese

We grabbed two taxis to take us to her home. Upon arrival it was like Johan was a rock star. Lots of hugs and gushing and comments about how tall he is! Blanca's husband, Ever, was there along with their two boys, Felipe (9) and Santiago (11), her sister Dora and her family and a group of friends. Johan got to have his hot chocolate with chessed he had been telling us about. Blanca shared photos from Johan's first communion. It was obvious they thought of Johan as part of the family and missed him much. It was very special. The boys wanted to know if Johan was their brother - to which we answered yes.

Johan's First Communion

They too wanted to know more about the U.S. and when we would visit again. Blanca's sister called her mother and gave the phone to Johan to talk to her. Blanca shared with us a drawing Johan had done for her and a card he had made for her on Mother's Day. She obviously cherished these things very much. There was also a picture of him in the clock on the wall.

It was a very nice visit. Blanca invited us back for lunch on Monday - which we gladly accepted.

Upon returning to the hotel we ventured out once again for Colombian-style pizza.
